Took my old serial number six (2008 Premier Edition Spyder GS SM-5) for a 140 mile ride yesterday. Been sitting in a dealer museum display for the past seven years, so it was time to get some cob webs cleared out. Still pulls as hard as I remembered, puts the newer ones to shame. Now has over 35,000 miles on it, been super reliable the whole time.

The Rotax 998cc V-twin engine was offered in two versions, Type 990 and Type 991. The 990 was the original release for the GS sport models in 2008. When the heavier RT touring model was introduced for 2010 it had the Type 991. BRP reduced the HP from 106 to 100 and lowered the RPM the power peaked at, deemed to be better suited for the heavier loads of the RT model. So the Type 990 in the lighter GS sport model was a very fun package!
